The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) Partners up with Silicon Valley’s Leading Innovation Platform Plug and Play Middle East


 

24,03, 2022 – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

 

The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) today announced a strategic partnership with Plug and Play – Silicon Valley's leading innovation platform, connecting startups, corporations, venture capital firms, universities, and government agencies. Committed to ensuring innovation is open to anyone, anywhere – Plug and Play Middle East in partnership with The Council of Health Insurance will launch the Kingdom's first open innovation platform called “iHub" focused on the health insurance industry. 

 

In line with Vision 2030 to digitize government services as well as develop new areas of the economy, the first of its kind open innovation platform “iHub"  will bring together the global health insurance industry such as insurers, healthcare providers, tech-based startups and healthcare experts to solve industry specific challenges, develop new services / products, discuss the best digital policies & regulations changes needed for the Kingdoms healthcare and insurance sectors. 

 

The Secretary General of Health Insurance Council, Dr. Shabab AlGhamdi, emphasize on the council's keenness to work in alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 since its launch, through its strategy, as it seeks to be a leading regulatory body working to enhance the quality and efficiency of health services for beneficiaries and stimulate digital transformation, sustainability and innovation.

 

AlGhamdi said: "The partnership agreement with Plug and Play is one of the most important strategic partnerships to enable the sector, entrepreneurs and emerging companies to innovate technical solutions for the private health insurance sector that overcome challenges and enhance quality and efficiency in order for the beneficiaries to obtain their full rights of protection and care.

 

“CHI is on a journey to uplift the digital maturity of the health insurance sector which started with NPHIES and our 3 year digital strategy and roadmap. Our goal now is to accelerate and enable digital innovation within the sector through our partnership with Plug and Play, states Abdullah Alsharqi Chief Technology and Digital Transformation Officer CHI". 

 

As part of this partnership, Plug and Play Middle East will support in building and operating iHub's open innovation platform with a focus on digital product innovations and emerging technologies that will improve healthcare outcomes within Saudi Arabia's healthcare and insurance sectors whilst also growing the HealthTech and Insurtech digital economy. The platform will also support global and local startups plans to grow in and expand to the KSA market and beyond.

 

“Emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and IOT are disrupting the health insurance sector and providing opportunities for health insurance companies and health care providers to transform their business models and the beneficiary experience. iHub will be the eyes and ears of digital innovation for the entire sector, to enable its transformation" Abdullah Alsharqi added.
